NCTFA and the Hispanic Federation to Provide Relief Payments to Farm Workers at CT NOFA Winter Conference

February 10, 2024
ATTENTION FARM WORKERS!
You might be eligible to receive a $600 payment at the CT NOFA winter conference!
The New CT Farmer Alliance (NCTFA) is working with the Hispanic Federation to distribute one-time $600 payments to farm workers who worked on food-producing farms in Connecticut during the covid-19 pandemic. NCTFA will be tabling at this year’s CT NOFA winter conference to help folks apply for this money.
Workers are eligible for the $600 benefit if they:
- Worked on a food producing farm (directly on production activities) between January 27, 2020 and May 11, 2023.
- Can provide proof of ID (passport, drivers license, etc. Can be from any country.)
- Can provide proof of employment (this could be a W2, a paystub, a contract, an H2A visa…must be DATED to show that worker worked during the pandemic period)
- Had ANY pandemic related expenses (i.e. masks, tests, etc)
- Have not already applied through a different organization (for example, PASA sustainable agriculture)
- Farm owners are not eligible.
If you would like to apply at the conference, please make sure that you bring a proof of ID and proof of employment with you! NCTFA will be set up in a private room filling out applications all day.
If you’re not sure how to get proof of employment dated between January 20, 2020 and May 11, 2023, ask your farm boss! They might be able to send you a copy of your 2020, 2021, or 2022 W2 forms, or help you access your old pay stubs online.
PLEASE NOTE: W2s from 2023 ARE NOT accepted as proof of employment, unless accompanied by a pay stub, H2A visa, or employee contract dated from between January 20, 2020 and May 11, 2023.
Payments will be given out in the form of a prepaid gift card.
If you have any questions, please email Freedom Gerardo at freedomgerardo193@gmail.com.
