OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT US!

Give at work through your employer's Matching Gifts Programs

Many businesses match employee contributions or sponsor or donate to organizations that are important to their employees. Some employers also participate in annual giving campaigns where you can designate your donations to CT NOFA. Check with your company’s benefits administrator to see what they offer.

Direct your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to CT NOFA

If you are required to make an RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) from your retirement account, you can direct it to a qualified charitable organization like CT NOFA. It's called a Qualified Charitable Distribution. This not only helps you fulfill your RMD requirements, but it also allows you to make a significant impact through your charitable giving. A few key points to consider:

  • Tax Benefits: by donating a portion of your RMD through a Qualified Charitable Distribution, you may receive tax benefits.
  • Easy Process: you must initiate the transfer through your financial institution. Our EIN is 06-1477166. CT NOFA can help you with any additional information required by your financial institution.
  • Impact: your generosity will directly support our mission and help us continue to expand organic agriculture and food sovereignty in Connecticut.

Please contact your tax advisor for more information and guidance.

Give a gift in someone's honor or memory

Honor a friend or family member, or their memory, with a gift in their name. Honorary and memorial donations are lasting and meaningful alternatives to gifts or flowers. Many choose such a gift to recognize a friend or family member’s love of local and organic food, agriculture, gardening or land care.

Throwing a party? Forego gifts and request donations!

Instead of gifts for your next birthday or anniversary, you can ask friends and family to donate to CT NOFA. That will greatly enhance our ability to create change. Let us know and we'll help you put together materials to make it easy for friends to donate.

Give the gift of stocks and bonds

CT NOFA accepts gifts of appreciated stock, which are sold upon receipt to support our work and programs. To make a gift, please email us.

Include CT NOFA in your estate

Planned giving is a lasting way of ensuring our organic mission endures for generations. Special gifts can be achieved through bequests or charitable trusts and can include real estate, bonds or other tangible assets.

In addition to sustaining CT NOFA’s mission and providing a meaningful legacy, these special ways of giving offer several benefits to donors. Since the tax rules regarding this type of donation regularly change, CT NOFA strongly encourages you to consult with an attorney who specializes in estate planning and estate and gift taxes before deciding what best suits your needs.

If you wish to discuss the language of your bequest or seek additional information on planned giving opportunities, please contact CT NOFA at (203) 408-6819 or email us.
