The Who, Why, and How of Insect Parasitoids
Parasitoids are important natural enemies of insect pests. They are commonly reared and released for biological control of pests or simply occur naturally and provide this service. This workshop will cover the biology of insect parasitoids and why they are key elements in organic pest management. Strategies will be presented in how to build a strong beneficial insect community that includes them along with other beneficial organisms. Attendees will learn about key parasitoid groups and how to detect their presence, understand their basic biology, and how best to implement conservation strategies that include the use of insectary plants and cover crops.
