Duties / Responsibilities

Position Overview
Farmers Market Associates are responsible for the full operation of our farmers market booth, either independently or as part of a small team. This includes loading and transporting product, setting up and breaking down the market stand, handling sales, and maintaining an organized, attractive display throughout the market day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload vehicles at the farm and market
  • Peak season loading begins as early as 6:00am
  • Packing vehicles carefully and efficiently is essential
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Safely drive company vehicles to and from farmers markets
  • Set up and break down market booths (tent, tables, signage, displays)
  • Sell farm-grown produce and value-added products
  • Operate POS system and accurately handle cash and card transactions
  • Provide clear, friendly customer service and answer product questions
  • Make product suggestions and engage customers confidently
  • Keep the market stand clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing
  • Track sales and communicate sell-outs or issues to the farm team
  • Follow all food safety guidelines and farmers market rules
  • Represent River Ridge Farm reliably and professionally

Schedule

  • May through October
  • Primarily weekends; some weekday markets possible
  • Full-time or part-time availability considered
  • Early mornings and long market days required

Desired Applicant Experience

Qualifications

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Valid drivers license, and a clean driving record
  • Comfortable working independently in a public, customer-facing setting
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift/carry farm products
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather
  • Basic math skills and comfort handling money
  • Customer service, retail, or farmers market experience is a plus (not required)
  • Interest in local food or farming is helpful but not required
  • Comfortable backing up a trailer is a plus; willing to train the right candidate
