Duties / Responsibilities
Assistant Farm Manager – Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working individual who wants to share and enhance
their farming skills and be a part of our farming community. This is a great position for someone
who wants to work outdoors on a diverse farm and educate children.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist the Farm Manager on our small, diverse, regenerative farm.
- Care for our acre of vegetables, fruit, and flowers, and working with our small flock of
sheep, cows, laying hens & broilers, and pigs. - Educating children, young adults, and families on our farm.
- Work with the Farm Manager to harvest, wash/pack, and deliver produce to the camp
kitchen as well as sales/donations within the local community. - Assist the Farm Manager with the planning and execution of farm goals.
- Keep farm production records.
- Weekend chores on a rotating basis with other farmers.
- Help slaughter and process livestock on site (flexible on this, as some belief systems
don’t allow for participation in this work).
Additional responsibilities:
- Attending weekly staff meetings, weekly work together time, and some professional
development opportunities. - Preserving farm products with the kitchen staff.
- Upkeep of the aesthetics of the farm, especially before big events.
Job requirements:
- Farming experience
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work hard.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Non-required but desired qualities:
- A driver’s license and clean driving record.
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a seasonal, full time, residential position on campus.
- Competitive pay commensurate with experience, starting at $15 an hour against room and board
- Position runs April – November
