Maitri Farm is seeking a skilled and motivated Vegetable Program Field Manager to help support our certified organic vegetable production program.

We are a diversified market farm in Dutchess County, NY, just a two-hour train ride from NYC. Our 106-acre property includes 10 acres of Certified Organic vegetables, cut flowers, and fruit, serving our community through CSA shares, farm store sales, wholesale, and restaurant accounts.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vegetable Program Field Manager in involved with all aspects of vegetable production, from soil health and planting schedules to harvest quality and post-harvest systems. This role requires strong organizational skills, leadership, and hands-on experience in organic vegetable farming in order to effectively direct field and greenhouse activities..

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement Farm Manager’s annual and seasonal crop plans
  • Help with managing soil fertility, irrigation, pest and disease control, and cultivation schedules
  • Lead daily field crew activities: planting, weeding, trellising, harvesting, and washing/packing
  • Maintain production records, organic certification compliance, and inventory tracking
  • Collaborate with farm leadership to coordinate field space, labor scheduling, and harvest goals
  • Support CSA packing, farm store fulfillment, and wholesale distribution as needed

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines field management with active daily participation in production.

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time, year-round position (average 40–45 hrs./week; higher during peak season)
  • Weekend work required during harvest or planting peaks
  • Flexible start date, ideally February 2026

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The right candidate will bring both technical experience and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in diversified vegetable production, with at least one season in a leadership or management capacity
  • Proven understanding of organic and regenerative growing practices
  • Experience with irrigation systems and mechanical cultivation
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Comfortable supervising a small team and training seasonal staff
  • Capable of performing physical farm work in all weather conditions (able to lift 50 lbs)
  • Tractor and small equipment operation experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
