New England Policy Manager

Employer: American Farmland Trust

Work Location: Remote - Based in Hartford, CT or Boston, MA

Term of Employment: Permanent, full-time

Compensation Range: $75k - $80k

Duties / Responsibilities

This role will lead critical policy work across the region, including managing day-to-day operations of Connecticut’s Working Lands Alliance, coordinating multi-state advocacy efforts, conducting policy research and analysis, and planning events like lobby days and stakeholder retreats. The position involves building coalitions, drafting testimony and policy briefs, engaging directly with farmers and policymakers, and advancing AFT’s policy priorities around farmland protection, farmland access, climate-smart agriculture, smart solar siting, and soil health.

Desired Applicant Experience

We’re looking for someone with 7+ years of experience in policy advocacy, coalition management, or related fields, strong communication and organizational skills, and a track record of managing legislative campaigns. Experience in the New England policy landscape and strong understanding of regional food systems is expected.
