Our Vision for a Future of Resilient, Plentiful, Healthy and Locally-Grounded Farming and Food
In concluding its annual retreat, the Northeast Organic Farming Association Interstate Council (NOFA IC) reaffirms the values that have grounded our work for 55 years.
Our vision is that every person is able to live their life with healthy food, clean water and air, community, livelihood, dignity, and purpose within the means of our life-giving planet. We seek that vision on every level, from our households and farms to our communities, states, bioregions, nation, and world. For that vision to be fulfilled, every person, no matter their origin or circumstances, must have all their basic human needs met without degrading the air, water, soil, ecosystems, and climate which we have been given and on which we depend for our lives.

Soil Health 3-Ways – September Session
Under the tutelage of CT NOFA Soil Health Program Manager, Monique Bosch, Soil Health 3-Ways participants will attend three virtual sessions (via Zoom) that cover the three main properties of soil – physical, chemical, and biological – in the lead-up to an in-person, practical application session. This 4-course series is intended for both commercial farmers and home gardeners to help them work with nature to produce healthy plants and nutrient-dense food.

Winter Conference
Each winter, CT NOFA holds our signature event, the Winter Conference, featuring the Bill Duesing Organic Living on the Earth Award, our annual meeting, and a keynote address. Also included are workshops on farming, seed saving, organic land care, community food security, social justice issues, and more. The conference also includes Farmer Circles – peer learning communities for farmers interested in discussing a particular topic in an informal, supportive environment.
Resources
CT NOFA features unique, in-depth and actionable resources for experienced farmers, farmers just starting out, and for gardeners of all backgrounds and skill levels. Resources include bespoke CT NOFA offerings and publications from our partners in Connecticut and beyond. Additionally, find the Organic Farm Stand, Digging in the Dirt and NOFA podcasts are available in one convenient location. Finally, CT NOFA members can post a free classified listing as a member benefit.
