Forest Farming: Ecological and Legal Considerations for Connecticut

Forest farming offers an exciting strategy for cultivating high-value herbs within a natural forest setting. However, some of these herb species are very rare in our state. These rare species are protected by state law, adding complications for growers.

Join us for a workshop covering important ecological and legal considerations for forest farming of native medicinal herbs in Connecticut. This workshop will focus on two of the highest-value, rare native herbs: American ginseng and goldenseal. We will discuss the basics of forest farming and delve into the details of working with these sensitive species. This is a free, 3-hour event including a classroom presentation followed by a field walk, but we ask that attendees please reserve a spot by clicking here.
