Join BAV for a community event ahead of Climate Week NYC to raise awareness of the climate-related challenges facing farmers in our region. Through the perspectives of local farmers and regional experts, we will hear about pressing issues on our local farms as well as solutions being implemented in partnership with BAV and others. All community members interested in climate issues and the viability of local agriculture are invited to attend.

Weā€™ll be gathering at the Greenagersā€™ Barn on the beautiful April Hill Farm. An optional farm tour begins at 4pm.

The event kicks off at 5pm, with an introduction by Ben Crockett, BAV Program Manager for Climate Smart Agriculture, followed by a presentation by climate and agriculture specialist Sara Kelemen. We will then hear on-the-land perspectives from three local farmers:

Sarah Chase of Chaseholm Farm, a third-generation dairy farm in Pine Plains, NY

Sarah Monteiro of Greenagers, a Berkshire nonprofit engaging youth in environmental conservation, sustainable farming, and related areas

Lauren Piotrowski of Roots Rising, an agriculture-based youth development nonprofit in Pittsfield, MA

The program will be followed by refreshments and conversation.
