Work Location: Beverly, MA

Compensation Range: $60,000-$63,000

Duties / Responsibilities

Communications, Marketing, Outreach, and Event Management (50% of effort)

  • Execute integrated marketing and communication strategies based on a shared understanding of New Entry programs, including mission and values, as well as brand strategy; key audiences and stakeholders; and communications channels;
  • Collaborate with New Entry Program leaders on communications needs and curate and generate creative, engaging content and community events that meet objectives for multiple audiences, including farmers, donors, program staff, legislators, community partners, and others;
  • Outreach to NGOs, Food Policy partners, media/press releases, and stakeholders about New Entry programs;
  • Support marketing, outreach and execution of New Entry-hosted events (Farm Tour, outreach events, fundraising events/farm dinners);
  • Develop and implement a digital media strategy and work plan, to include social media, web, and email, outlining measurable outcomes as part of the overall marketing and communications strategic plan;
  • Write and manage production of the monthly newsletters and annual report;
  • Act as primary creative director and develop content calendar for New Entry’s social media channels;
  • Create and manage digital campaigns and social media, including the Ag License Plate Campaign;
  • Manage and update New Entry website, BFNMass website, and Choose Fresh and Local website, and any campaign-based websites or landing pages;
  • Administer the organization’s email efforts, including email list building and management;
  • Maintain New Entry digital asset system, including photos, videos, articles, media coverage, and links;
  • Monitor metrics and engagement with our content and share reports, insights, and recommendations to improve and optimize;
  • Attend conferences, fairs, other events to promote New Entry programs (farmer training programs, Food Hub products, and other program initiatives) to engage participation and drive enrollment in New Entry’s core programs;
  • Liaison with local news media and develop press releases to garner earned media;
  • Interview farmers, volunteers, and community partners and create ongoing stories/blog material to be utilized for overall outreach, development, and fundraising purposes;
  • Supervise graduate students or other interns/volunteers to support overall communication efforts

Volunteer Coordination and Community Engagement (30% of effort)

  • Recruit and train new volunteers, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills and meet program needs;
  • Track volunteer engagement through a comprehensive database that tracks volunteer information, hours, liability forms, and in-kind values and contributions to the organization;
  • Manage communications with volunteers and positively convey New Entry’s organizational purpose and mission;
  • Coordinate volunteer placement with other New Entry staff to provide a meaningful experience;
  • Support the volunteer experience through collaborative work in the Food Hub warehouse and in the field/farm.
  • Follow up with volunteers to express gratitude and manage volunteer appreciation events.

Program and Data Management (20% of effort)

  • Supports a diverse team of New Entry staff, consultants, and organizational partners to coordinate the achievement of stated outcomes in alignment with organizational strategic goals, metrics, and outcomes.
  • Supports grants management by helping staff develop project management plans, tracking deliverables, meeting reporting deadlines, and monitoring allocations and expenditures.
  • Supports program staff in developing and maintaining Salesforce-based data management systems to track and report program outputs and results to funders with an emphasis on meeting key performance indicators, outcomes/impact, and success stories.
  • Identifies best practices and improves internal systems to maintain and enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.

Desired Applicant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 3+ years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 1-2 years related experience OR equivalent work experience to meet desired skill level;
  • Marketing and communications mangement experience, including designing strategy, conducting outreach, managing social media, and website content management.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people in an entrepreneurial business environment which includes a level of business development, strategic thinking, business management, and understanding of community based food systems;
  • Community organizing and cross-cultural experience helpful; prepared to build relationships with beginning, immigrant, and refugee farmer participants and community stakeholders; fluency in another language desired;
  • Experience in building relationships and educating consumers; excellent customer service skills;
  • Working knowledge of computer software (MS Office, especially Excel database and spreadsheets, social media, email marketing platforms, Salesforce CRM, website content development, graphic design);
  • Teaching experience with adult learners and technical assistance provision desired; experience communicating expectations in a learning environment to help volunteers contribute to our mission;
  • Highly organized and attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize tasks for completion;
  • Strong leadership and diplomacy skills; excellent public speaking skills;
  • Self-motivated and directed; works well within a rapidly-changing, high performance environment;
  • Effective communications, interpersonal skills, and strong writing ability;
  • Clean driving record and access to reliable private transportation necessary;
  • Flexible schedule needed, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred;
  • Strong Experience with communications, social media, graphic design, photography, and various marketing platforms;
  • Ability to perform varied and repetitive warehouse tasks alongside volunteers including manual lifting of boxes between 25 – 50 pounds, in conditions that vary from hot and humid, to cold and wet, and up and down stairs or ladders; Ability to conduct farm tasks with volunteers (bending, weeding, harvesting, etc.);
  • Ability to drive and safely maneuver a 14’ or 16’ commercial box truck or refrigerated van in urban traffic and congested city streets (no special license required, but must pass physical exam).
