Assistant Editor for The Natural Farmer (temporary position)

Employer: The Natural Farmer

Work Location: Remote

Term of Employment: November 2023 - March 2024

Compensation Range: $30/hour

Duties / Responsibilities

The Natural Farmer (the publication of NOFA) is looking for an assistant editor to assist with the Spring 2024 issue. The theme is Evolving Markets: Markets and distribution were forced to adapt during Covid. The shape of the CSA continues to evolve. RSA’s, Restaurant Supported Agriculture, are popping up. Small farmers are continuously creating ways to distribute their food to communities so it is affordable, accessible & profitable – a difficult task. How is your farm selling products? Have your markets evolved over the years since you started? What is the greatest missing link for your markets to be successful?

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the topic and well-connected to farmers and other food producers. The primary role of the assistant editor will be to help identify critical topics within the theme and track down stories and contacts.

The role is part-time and temporary: ~5-10 hours/month for 4-5 months (from November 2023 – March 2024) and compensated at $30/hour.
